About Chicago & Southern Air Lines

Originally starting out as Pacific Seaboard Air Lines by Carleton Putnam in 1933. Putnam chased down an air mail contract the government was offering. He decided to move east in order to operate the Chicago to New Orleans air mail route. At that point, he changed the name of the airline to Chicago & Southern Air Lines.

The airline merged with Delta Airlines in 1953.
