"The Original No Frills Airline"

Pacific actually started out as Southwest Airways in 1941. Not until 1958 did they change the name to Pacific Airlines. They were known for their quick turnarounds and scrappy business tactics. Ground crews could deplane passengers, load outbound passengers, and send a DC-3 taxiing for takeoff in under 2 minutes.

Asked by Time Magazine why they didn't provide chewing gum to their passengers, their founder, Jack Connelly was quoted, "we never fly high enough to need it and besides it sticks to the floor."
