First, a little bit about Alaska Coastal...as the name suggests, the airline was the result of the 1962 merger between Ellis Airlines of Ketchikan and Alaska Coastal Airlines of Juneau. Eventually, they’d simplify the name and become Alaska Coastal.
In 1968, Alaska Airlines purchased Alaska Coastal and quickly sold off all of the amphibious airplanes in the fleet.
