About Empire Airlines

Empire Air Lines began life as Zimmerly Air Lines. Bert Zimmerly changed the name of the airline to Empire Air Lines when it began interstate operations between Idaho Falls and Spokane, Washington, in 1946. Until then, it operated a small fleet of DC-3s and Boeing 247s inside Idaho state lines between Boise, Lewiston, Pocatello, and Coeur d’Alene.

Empire ended up being merged into West Coast Airline in the 1950s.

* Not to be confused with the current day Empire Airlines in Hayden, Idaho. *
