Story of Robertson Aircraft Corporation
Robertson was one of the first legitimate aviation companies in the States. Started by brothers William and Frank Robertson in St. Louis, the company flew both passengers and mail, as well as flew demonstrations.
Robertson was awarded the contract by the government to fly Contract Air Mail Route #2, the route that served St. Louis to Chicago, with stops in Springfield and Peoria. Charles Lindbergh (you may have heard of him) was the honorary first pilot to fly the route.
