Story of Continental Airlines

Go far enough back and you’ll learn that Continental was started by Walter Varney back in 1934. Back then it was called Varney Speed Lines and it wasn’t until 1937 that it was renamed Continental Air Lines. As with every airline, Continental went through dramatic corporate restructuring through its years and swallowed up several airlines as it grew. In 2010, Continental merged with United Airlines.
